Those 2 yellow struts? Probably not the thing you notice in the photo. In fact it’s not the reason we took the photo either. But this will probably save our race. Buckle up – it’s a super weird story.
Friday was a test day and so each driver had a chance to test out the car and get comfortable with some final adjustments. A few minutes after Oli went out, he was back…giving a thumbs down as a rounded the corner in the paddock.
Daniel posing with the new-now-biggest-dent on the car. He works at Swellcycle, which is another fund story.

He’d collided with another car and the left front of the car was unhappy – fender bashed in and the something very odd happening with the camber/caster of the front left. Our search for alignment plates, led us to 7’s Racing.
And it turns out 7’s Racing makes very fast Spec 944 cars (yes, fast versions of our car). After helping us with the alignment, they pointed out that our rear shocks were blown…more specifically our AI recommendation from 944 Spec Forums, to add a helper spring, had turned out to be very unhelpful.
Which brings us to our upside down car. Those 2 struts? They told us we were welcome to scavenge them. And with comedic timing, one of the Lemons judges was nearby to witness the harvesting.

After some gentle persuasion with a grinder, they’re in and ready for the day. Free performance upgrade. Or more likely prevented the back of the car from shaking itself a part. All from light contact with the Barbie Corvet…Ready to start day 2.
